The Facilicom UK view of sustainability is that the term covers more than just the environmental aspect most often associated with it. We think being ‘green’ is vital, as demonstrated by our C2Zero carbon neutral cleaning programme, among other initiatives. However, we also believe that to be truly sustainable a business must be economically viable and act in the interests of the wider society it operates in. We call this the three Ps (people, planet and profit).
This wider approach is why I’m delighted that our security company Trigion has signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant initiative. Our armed forces do so much to protect our way of life, often at great personal sacrifice, and it is only fair that we help them in return; that is what a sustainable society does. The covenant supports serving personnel, service leavers, veterans, and their families. It offers a wide variety of support to ensure they are being treated fairly in society.
There has been a strong link between commercial security and our armed forces for many years, with the industry employing former service personnel as manned guards, and also for their skills on the electronic side of the sector. We are very pleased to formalise our support publically through this pledge.
